PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer is enhanced to provide convenience to non-administrator users (who can log in to Windows as a standard user or guest user, install and launch the installer, and download the offline installer now, without needing the administrator rights), while still protect the system from unauthorized changes (non-administrator users will need to input the administrator credentials to install the product and components).
In summary, the installer is enhanced from the following aspects:
-
Installing the PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer (by running PowerBuilderInstaller_bootstrapper.exe) no longer requires administrator privileges
-
Launching the PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer (from the Windows Start menu or by running PowerBuilderInstaller.exe) no longer requires administrator privileges.
-
Downloading the offline installation package (by clicking "Download Offline Installer" on the installer) no longer requires administrator privileges.
However, administrator rights are still required if you want to make changes to the system files, registry entries, and critical configurations. For example, when you click Modify, Update, or Install in the installer to try to install or update the product, you will be prompted to enter the administrator username and password before you can proceed.
