How low-privilege users are supported

Low-privilege users refer to the non-administrator users of Windows system, such as standard user, guest user etc.

In version 2022 R2 and earlier, PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer can only be installed and run by an administrator. Standard users or guest users are unable to install or launch the installer.

In version 2022 R3, the installer is enhanced:

1. Installing the PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer (by running PowerBuilderInstaller_bootstrapper.exe) no longer requires administrator privileges

2. Launching the PowerBuilder/InfoMaker Installer (from the Windows Start menu or by running PowerBuilderInstaller.exe) no longer requires administrator privileges.

3. Downloading the offline installation package (by clicking "Download Offline Installer" on the installer) no longer requires administrator privileges.

However, installing or updating the product (by clicking "Install", "Update", or "Modify" on the installer) still requires administrator privileges. A privilege elevation dialog will appear, prompting for the username and password of an administrator account.
